Beyond the Crease Goaltending is among the most complete goaltender training services in Southwestern Ontario with current clientele across Halton, Hamilton and Waterloo regions. The philosophy of BTC Goaltending is to provide students of all age and skill levels with the tools necessary to play the toughest position in sports at the highest level possible. BTC Goaltending focuses on introducing; teaching and developing skills for playing the position that provide the necessary ‘tools’ to each goaltender. As these tools are introduced, the goaltender is encouraged to develop their own style or ‘toolbox’.

BTC Goaltending is proud to offer Private and Semi-Private lessons all year long, in addition to seasonal camps, rep tune-up camps and clinics for all goaltenders. Cam not only proved his worth to me as my #1 goalie for two seasons, but again as part of my coaching staff. His maturity level is second to none, as well as his vision for the game. The drills and practice plans I watched Cam lay out for our goaltenders and then implement were fantastic. Cam and his work with our goalies was a huge reason why when we took over the coaching reins of a team a few months into the season that was in last place, we were able to have them fighting for second overall going into the final 3 games of the year.

I would fully endorse Cam as your son or daughter’s goalie instructor as I am sure any goaltender will see vastly improved results.

This year with the Brampton Capitals, I have been fortunate enough to work with Cam as our goaltending and assistant coach. Cam has a great attention to detail when it comes picking out things in my game that need to be improved, which has been a key factor in elevating my game to even higher levels. Cam always pushes me to achieve more and reach my potential. Coming into play at the Jr. A level as a rookie was very difficult, but Cam was an amazing help in making the adjustment to junior hockey.

I worked with Cam while playing for the Brampton Capitals; his drive and determination to make his goalies the best they can be in an effort to elevate their game is what makes him and his goalies so successful. As the (former) President and Owner of a Junior Hockey team, Cam caught my interest immediately. I found him mature and articulate beyond his years. He is well spoken and displays excellent leadership qualities. Whether it was a young fan looking for an autograph, a teammate looking for advice or a coach seeking an opinion, Cam has a straightforward and honest approach that is admired by all. He was the perfect mentor to younger players, especially the newer goalies. Both his personality and technical skills will bring out the best in all those he comes in contact with – I am proud to have had him as part of my organization.

I had the privilege to coach Cam Crawford for two seasons of his junior hockey career. Cam was always a fundamentally sound goaltender with a great work ethic. Due to his positioning and technique, shooters had difficulty finding an opening on Cam. In his final season in St. George, Cam sported a 2.48 GAA. and was named the starting goalie for the league’s All-Star game in the 2006/07 season as well as being voted a first team All-Star at the year’s end. Cam’s biggest strength was his mental preparation for games and practices. Often times it seemed Cam knew what the shooter was going to do before they did.

When I was offered a coaching position with a team in the same league, the Wellesley Applejacks, my first order of business as head coach was to bring Cam on as my assistant/goalie coach.
